Welcome to the Melbourne - Sydney Rail
      Corridor Upgrade Project.

The South Improvement Alliance (SIA) is the group of organisations brought together by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to plan, design and deliver a range of improvements on the Sydney to Melbourne Rail corridor.

The project was launched in October 2005, after a review of the Sydney to Melbourne rail network identified a range of issues affecting freight rail operations affecting the competetiveness and market share of rail transport in the freight haulage and distribution industries.

The SIA program of works objectives are to:

  • Improve Transit time
  • Improve Reliability
  • Improve Capacity
  • Improve Yield (above and below rail)

The primary alliance partners are John Holland Rail, MVM Rail and O'Donnell Griffin (ODG).

Sub-alliance partners supporting the program are Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR) and
       Aurecon (formerly CW-DC).

The SIA program of works totals over $1billion and is scheduled for completion in 2010 -
       2011

This site provides you with detailed information about the program of works being
